Sharon Sweda of Amherst announces campaign for State Senator, D-13

[AMHERST, OH February 14, 2018] Sharon “Shari” Sweda is pleased to announce her candidacy for Ohio State Senate – District 13, which encompasses Lorain and Huron Counties. A lifelong resident of the district, she is a recognized community leader and accomplished businesswoman and owner for over 35 years.

An asset for her community and longtime employer in Lorain and Erie counties, Sharon spent over 20 years building and operating one the area’s premier real estate firms; Sweda, Sweda and Associates. She now serves homeowners everyday as the owner and operator of American Patriot Title Agency based in Elyria, OH since 2006. Sharon has lobbied on behalf of homeownership protection and health insurance inclusion for independent contractors with the National Association of Realtors annually in Washington D.C. While still serving all the needs of District 13, her core platform will make Ohio healthy, prosperous, fair, and safe.

  • Healthy: Sharon Sweda will work tirelessly to ensure Ohioans have access to affordable healthcare they need. She will work to solve the heroin and opioid epidemic that is plaguing our State and assist the affected individuals and their families.
  • Prosperous: Sharon will fight for better public education, to promote business growth, and improve affordable housing for a strong and prosperous Ohio.
  • Fair: Sharon is for a welcoming, fair Ohio where citizens of all political and religious beliefs, races and genders are heard and represented. Sharon is proud to stand with our LGBTQ+ and minority communities and recognizes the work that has yet to be done in furtherance of equality.
  • Safe: Sharon understands the need to support and adequately equip our men and women in uniform that selflessly serve our country and communities.

A message from Sharon:

“I am very excited to start this journey to strengthen our future. During my time as a resident and business owner in Avon, N. Ridgeville, Lorain, Amherst, Elyria, Vermilion and surrounding communities I have yearned for representatives that would be more proactive towards solving local concerns.

“We have lived, worked, and raised a family throughout this District. I understand our needs and have the experience that will equip me to attract greater investment and growth to ensure sustained security for our friends, families, and neighbors.

“Sweda for Ohio will take the issues discussed at hundreds of kitchen tables throughout my life’s work to Columbus and fight tirelessly to bring back real solutions for our residents. I will pressure our legislature to look towards home and focus on bringing positive change to all Ohioans’ daily lives. I look forward to meeting people from across our district to understand their priorities.

“I will always listen to your concerns so that I can be a better voice for our district and welcome all constituents to join our campaign to build strength for our future!”
